Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Wylie Ramos was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Grover Cleveland high school in Queens, New York in 1998. He enlisted in the Army in September 1998 and graduated basic and advanced individual training as a 13B Cannon Crewmember at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in January 1999.

CSM Ramos’ previous duty assignments include Alpha Battery, 3rd Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division Artillery (DIVARTY), Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Alpha Battery, and Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion, 377th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER), Alaska, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, Alpha Battery, Bravo Battery, and Fox Forward Support Company, 3rd Battalion, 29th Field Artillery, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado, Bravo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, and Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 82nd Airborne Division Artillery (DIVARTY), Fort Bragg, North Carolina. CSM Ramos assumed responsibility as the Battalion CSM for 2nd Battalion, 2nd Field Artillery Regiment (FAR), 428th Field Artillery Brigade (FAB), Fires Center of Excellence (FCoE), Fort Sill, Oklahoma on 04 August 2021.

CSM Ramos has served in numerous leadership positions to include Advanced Party Man, Vehicle Driver, Cannoneer #1, Ammunition Team Chief, Gunner, Howitzer Section Chief, Gunnery Sergeant, Platoon Sergeant, Battalion Master Gunner, Forward Support Company First Sergeant, Battalion Operations Sergeant, Battery First Sergeant, Brigade Operations Sergeant Major, to include non-standard positions such as a Mortar Gunner, Infantry Squad Leader, and Infantry Platoon Sergeant.

CSM Ramos’ has served in one combat deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, three combat deployments to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and one combat deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

CSM Ramos’ military schools and education includes the Basic Airborne Course, Jumpmaster Course, Cold Weather Leadership Course, Pathfinder Course, and 82nd Airborne Division Master Gunner Course. He has completed all levels of the Noncommissioned Officers Education System and is a graduate of the Sergeants Major Academy (Non-Resident Class #46).

CSM Ramos’ awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5OLC), Army Achievement Medal with “C” device, Army Achievement Medal (10OLC), Valorous Unit Award (2OLC), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Army Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (4 Combat Stars), Iraq Campaign Medal (2 Combat Stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 5, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral 5, NATO Medal, Combat Action Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver Wheeled Vehicles, Marksmanship Qualification Badge Expert with Carbine, Norwegian Foot March Badge, and the Venezuelan, German, Canadian, Colombian, and Chilean foreign badges. He is a recipient of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Award and has been awarded the Field Artillery Order of Saint Barbara.
